We have a winner in our first Political Cartoon Caption Contest in which we asked you to come up with a new caption for this Cold War era daub from 1948. Mr. P. Roth of Sharon, Connecticut wins a one-year subscription with “Czech-mate!”

Our runners-up were Ms. A. Munro of Huron County, Ontario who submitted “Loser Pays!” and Mr. J. McPhee of Princeton, New Jersey who gave us “Trouble Brewing!”

An honorable mention goes to Mr. C. Trillin of New York, New York whose suggested caption, “Take your mitts off Mitteleurope!” was deemed too clever for a 1940s political cartoon by our judges.
